Mavericks Western Wear is a family owned business owned by Rick and Judy Tranter. The business was first opened in March 1995, giving service to the western sport industry in Australia for both retail and wholesale purposes.
Rick Tranter has had a large amount of experience in the western horse industry as he was a professional reining horse trainer and the highest money earner for the NRHA for 5 years. In 2009 he was inducted into the Reining Australia Hall of Fame, and has also tried his hand at a number of other western disciplines. Rick noticed that there was a need for people to have access to quality equipment, brands and clothing in the western horse industry. His knowledge about the industry plays a major part in the business when selecting quality saddlery items.

Judy Tranter is a qualified high school teacher and now helps with running the business side of things with Mavericks Western wear. Due to her commercial training she has great skills in customer service and helping people. Their son Tony Tranter has studied photography at the Queensland College of Art and shows a keen eye and artistic flare. This helps him prepare catalogues and advertisements for the business. Their daughter Fiona also worked at Mavericks for the first seven years we were operating and is now a keen cutting horse competitor.
